Don
Martin diary entry for Friday, May 17, 1918:
Stayed in bed till 9. Went to Herald office Rue de l’Opera and read the
New York edition for April. Found my name is being signed in big letters to all my
stories. Went to the office Rue du Louvre. No news yet about time of funeral.
Went with [Burn] Price [Paris Herald manager] to florists and ordered flowers for New York employees for Cooper,
Flaherty, for the staff here and the Publishers’ Association. Chatham for dinner. Air
raid alarm about 10:30. Was in my room. Went down and out in the Champs Elysees
but nothing happened. Got nice letter from Dorothy.
Weather beautiful.
