Don Martin diary entry for Saturday, March
23, 1918:
Great German offensive begins.
Spent most of the day writing mail stories.
Wrote a 2 ½ column story of my experience during shelling of Domjiron, and column
story about the old lady of Arsencourt. Had photographs taken of myself in my
uniform to send to Dorothy. Went to post office to get mail but found none.
Walked around Neufchateau quite a bit. Had dinner at club with Bryan and some
other correspondents.
Big offensive on in earnest at Cambrai
against the British. Air raid on Paris during entire day.
