Don Martin diary entry for Saturday, January 5, 1918:
Went to our office at noon. Got wire from the Commodore asking if I couldn’t do something about London circulation. Poor old Commodore! He has skipped about two generations. I can see where I will get in trouble with him before long. Went for a walk on Black Friars Bridge: up in the Trafalgar Sq. region and then to the Savoy. Dropped into the Cock Tavern where Wadesworth used to hang out. Had dinner at Cheshire Cheese with Champion and then went to the London Gaiety Theater to see the “Beauty Spot,” a musical comedy. Is a pretty dull show but beautifully staged. Champion thinks the Commodore is unfair in putting the circulation matter up to me. “I should worry?”

Rather nice day
