Don Martin diary entry for Thursday, January 24, 1918:
Went
to the office early and read the papers. Then went to Doris Keane’s house to
luncheon. Met her husband (not much), a couple of Lady Somethings and had an
American meal of fried chicken, corn fritters and lemon pie. It was a splendid
luncheon. Miss Keane showed me through her home which is very beautiful and I
read her part of a story I have written about her as the “rage of London.” I
didn’t think much of the outfit.
Saw Admiral [Sir William Reginald,
"Blinker"] Hall [, Director
of Naval Intelligence] at 4:30.
