Don Martin diary entry
for Monday, February 4, 1918:
Spent most of the afternoon at the office. Had dinner at Simpson’s
– no meat though it wasn’t a meatless day – and in the evening went to the
Strand Theatre and saw an American play “Cheating Cheaters,” which I had
already seen in N.Y. It went very well. ["Cheating Cheaters" opened at the Strand Theatre (now
named Novello Theatre) in London in February 1918 after a successful run in New
York City in 1916-1917. It starred American actress Shirley Kellogg.]
Went to office later and wrote two letters to go to by a friend
who sails on the St. Louis tomorrow.
Weather nasty.
