Don Martin diary entry for Monday, February 11, 1918:
Spent practically all day at the office. Had dinner at the Savoy – a pretty good one – appetizers, sole, pheasant and potatoes as well as apple dumplings and grapes. Went to the office at night. Welliver and Snyder came in about 11. I walked up to Judd’s hotel, the Bedford, with him and sat in his room till 2 a.m. trying to cheer him up. He is going back to N.Y. in a few days and seems to feel that his London experience has been unsatisfactory.
Weather pleasant
