Don
Martin diary entry for Monday, April 15, 1918:
Left Paris for Gondrecourt at noon. Found auto waiting which took me to
Neufchateau. Found there had been quite an engagement between U.S. troops and
Germans on the Meuse couple days ago. Got details from Prenisal of the AP and
sent pretty good story to Paris. Most of the correspondents are with the 1st
division. Went early to my cold, smelly, candle-lighted room in the Hotel
Agriculture.
Germans continuing their drive against the
British. Are driving them back slowly with tremendous German losses.
Weather miserable –
Rainy and cold.
